THE local newspaper journalist involved in a successful campaign to have a killer stretch of a road made safer has been appointed news editor at a sister title.
Craig Robertson was chief reporter at the Dumfries & Galloway Standard, which just over a week ago was celebrating a decision by the Scottish Government to have a part of the A75 improved.
The paper hailed ‘people power’ in the decision to undertake a £20million redevelopment.
And Robertson has now taken up the reins at sister title, the Kilmarnock Standard, both it and the Dumfries & Galloway Standard being part of Media Scotland, which also owns, among others, the Daily Record.
Robertson has been at the D&G Standard for seven years. After leaving Bell College, Hamilton, he started as a junior reporter at the paper, then was made senior reporter five years ago and then was appointed chief reporter the following year.
He has been succeeded in Dumfries by Jackie Grant, who was senior reporter.
The news editor role at the Kilmarnock Standard is a new one, created after chief reporter, David Wynn, left to go to The Scottish Sun.
