TGE new Sunday edition of The Scottish Sun is claiming it was Scotland’s top-selling newspaper on Sunday, its launch beating its nearest rival by 9,000 copies.
Yesterday, allmediascotland.com reported an estimated 320,000-plus copies of The Scottish Sun on Sunday had been sold. Today, The Scottish Sun is claiming the figure was, more exactly, 323,000 and that it beat “our closest so-called rival”, the Sunday Mail.
Says The Scottish Sun: “The Scottish Sun’s first-ever Sunday edition was hailed a stunning success yesterday – after we became Scotland’s biggest selling paper.
“Our record-breaking launch saw a whopping 323,000 copies snapped up by our loyal army of readers.
“And the soaraway figure was a massive 9,000 more than our closest so-called rival.
“Across the UK, an incredible 3.26million readers rushed to buy the historic issue, which was the largest sale of a British newspaper in four years.”
In July, The Sun’s Sunday sister title, the News of the World, was closed amid allegations of phone-hacking.
