STAFF at an estate agents in Kent have been fielding calls from the Scottish media – after their boss was linked to a possible purchase of Rangers Football Club.
Except that the Andrew Ellis said to be interested in buying the Glasgow football club is not the same Andrew Ellis whose estate agency in Dartford has found itself in the local press because of the flood of media calls coming in from Scotland.
Reports the website of the Kent Messenger newspaper: “Co-director Toby Ellis said his beleaguered teammates had received calls from several Scottish newspapers and television stations as well as English national newspapers, including the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph.”
He is quoted as saying: “It started with someone calling and asking for Mr Ellis and whether I wanted to pass comment on my bid for Rangers. Then there were more calls, asking for pictures and comments. We had about three from the same paper – they didn’t believe us when we put them straight.”
