IT’S not often that allmediascotland receives a nomination for its ‘Headline of the month’ competition – run in association with whisky folk, Whyte & Mackay – from a website. Mostly it’s newspapers.
So, many thanks from Herald journalist, Ross McKay, for this fine piece of spotting, from the website of North Ayrshire Council.
The story concerns using old Christmas trees from North and South Ayrshire to maintain the coastline and reduce the amount of sand blown off Girvan beach.
Prompting the headline: ‘Fir Trees a Jolly Good Filler’.
Up for grabs each month are bottles of Whyte & Mackay Special whisky – for both the author of the headline and the person who has nominated it, with the monthly winners entered in a ‘Headline of the year’ competition where two bottles, each worth £150, of Whyte & Mackay 30 year-old are the prizes.
Eligible are headlines in Scottish newspapers (national and local), plus Scottish magazines and online.
