THE deadline is looming for applications for one of the most unusual jobs of the year in the Scottish media.
Wanted is an editor to co-ordinate copy across the world’s so-called ‘street newspapers’, among them The Big Issue in Scotland magazine.
The job – being co-ordinated by the International Network of Street Papers (INSP) – is expected to involve extensive travel, both within the UK and abroad.
Says INSP executive director, Lisa Maclean: “The principle purpose of the service is to exchange content between our street papers in 40 countries. We also want the editor to develop our portfolio of exclusive content and promote our portfolio of independent work more widely to the mainstream media.
“We also want the editor to engage well known individuals to raise the profile of our organisation and set up exclusive interviews and features to be distributed to our per edition circulation of five million readers.
“There will also be the opportunity to work closely with Thomson Reuters, who are one of our key media partners.”
The deadline for applications is next Thursday.
