FIRST, it was a scratch band preparing for a major gig, now it’s a cycling team.
This evening, the ‘Sunday Herald’ band is scheduled to play at the T in the Park music festival. And says The Herald today, the band – “comprising Herald & Times staff Rachel Loxton, Catriona Stewart, Stewart Attwood, Stewart Paterson and Ken McNab” – is set to perform a three-song set at 6.40pm.
But it doesn’t stop there, for the newspaper group’s staff. In today’s Herald Magazine, feature writer and columnist, Susan Swarbrick writes of plans by she and colleagues to take part in a Glasgow-Edinburgh cycle ride on September 9: Pedal for Scotland.
And among the six-person team is Herald sports editor, Donald Cowey, who is quoted, as saying: “I’ve always preferred the idea of cycling to actually doing it, although, once under way, it can be rewarding as much as challenging: it can even be fun at times.”
Joining Swarbrick and Cowey are sports writer, Matthew Lindsay; photographer, Mark Gibson; Magazine editor, Garry Scott; and news reporter, Matty Sutton.
