THE Sunday Mail is understood to have regained the lead in the Sunday newspapers sales race, taking it back from The Scottish Sun on Sunday which saw its launch issue a week ago on Sunday outshine its rival.
Rough estimates suggest sales of The Scottish Sun on Sunday down by almost 15 per cent, from around 323,000 for its launch issue to 275,000 on Sunday.
And in the meantime, the Sunday Mail’s sale is estimated for have risen from 314,000 to 316,000.
Last week, The Scottish Sun was saying of its Sunday sister: “The Scottish Sun’s first-ever Sunday edition was hailed a stunning success yesterday – after we became Scotland’s biggest selling paper.
“Our record-breaking launch saw a whopping 323,000 copies snapped up by our loyal army of readers.
“And the soaraway figure was a massive 9,000 more than our closest so-called rival.”
The Scottish Sun on Sunday sells for 50p. The Sunday Mail is £1.30, except in the Grampian and Tayside regions, where it is also 50p.
