A “CONSTRUCTIVE meeting” is reported to have taken place today in Edinburgh between newspapers owner, Rupert Murdoch, and First Minister, Alex Salmond.
Reports the BBC, a spokesperson for the First Minister is quoted as saying of the meeting, which is understood to have included discussion about the Leveson Inquiry into press standards and the upcoming referendum on Scotland’s constitutional future: “This was a very constructive meeting focused on News Corporation’s substantial economic footprint in Scotland and the First Minister and Mr Murdoch discussed the potential for further investment within the country.”
The spokesperson is also quoted, as saying: “Mr Murdoch gave strong assurances that News International are intent on consigning these matters to the past and emerging a better organisation for it.”
