Studios at BBC Scotland's headquarters in Glasgow are again to be the production base for two shows that are part of the network's Saturday evening fare: Tonight's the Night and Secret Fortune.
It follows news that BBC Entertainment has recommissioned the two shows, both of which will again be recorded at BBC Scotland’s Pacific Quay studios for broadcast later this year on BBC One.
Says a statement issued by the BBC: “The new series will be the third for Tonight’s the Night, starring John Barrowman. The co-production between BBC Vision Productions and Barrowman Barker Productions will comprise of six studio-based episodes and two compilation shows. The series will be executive produced by Lousie Rainbow and Eileen Herlihy.
“Secret Fortune, the new National Lottery game show format which launched last month and gives contestants the chance to win up to £100,000 will return for a second series. Belfast-based independent production company, Wild Rover, has been commissioned to make a further eight episodes. The series will be executive produced by Phil Morrow.”
Both series were commissioned by Controller of BBC One, Danny Cohen; executive editor for Entertainment, Alan Tyler; and Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, Mark Linsey.
In the statement, Tyler is quoted, as saying: “We are delighted to recommission these shows which will continue to be made in Scotland and Northern Ireland. They are first and foremost great programmes. Their recommissions are fantastic news not only for the viewers who love them, but also for the in-house and independent production companies involved and for the local economy.”
