The producer behind the Scottish news opt-out for breakfast TV programme, GMTV, has appointed a new news editor for Scotland.
Brian O’Neill – a multimedia journalist and presenter at Macmillan Media for over two years – has taken up the post, following an internal promotion.
Prior to joining the Glasgow-based producer two years ago, O’Neill worked for ITV Tyne Tees in Newcastle.
The move comes ahead of the re-launch of GMTV as Daybreak from a week on Monday, with O’Neill the third person to occupy the news editor role since the start of last month.
As allmediascotland reported at the beginning of July, TV journalist, Catherine Brown, was leaving Macmillan after three years to join the culture desk at the Scottish Government’s Communication Office.
Her anticipated replacement, Katie Hunter, departed soon after, following an offer from Channel 4 of a video journalist position at its London operations.
