EVERY one of the main national daily and Sunday newspapers available in Scotland have experienced dips in their their latest year-on-year sales figures in the country.
Figures released on Friday by the newspapers circulation body, ABC, concern average sales during November last year versus those from last month.
In summary, they read, as follows:
Daily Mirror – 10.9 per cent drop = from 18,127 on average during November last year, to 16,150 last month;
Daily Record – 10.7 per cent drop = from 218,747 on average during November last year, to 195,223 last month;
Daily Star of Scotland – 16 per cent drop = 47,836 to 40,161;
The Scottish Sun – 8.8 per cent drop = 255,227 to 232,541;
Scottish Daily Express – 13.8 per cent drop = 53,300 to 45,918;
Scottish Daily Mail – 4.3 per cent drop = 94,195 to 90,098;
Daily Telegraph – 10.6 per cent drop = 18,404 to 16,449;
Financial Times – 9.2 per cent drop = 2,472 to 2,244;
The Guardian – 12.9 per cent drop = 10,639 to 9,261;
i – 5.8 per cent drop = 18,916 to 17,823;
Independent – 10.4 per cent drop = 2,810 to 2,517; and
The Times – 0.8 cent drop = 18,208 to 18,067.
Meanwhile, the Sunday titles’ sales figures in Scotland were as follows:
Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday – 19.3 per cent down = 26,590 to 21,448;
The Scottish Sun – Sunday – 9.5 per cent down = 185,165 to 167,650;
Sunday Mail – 11 per cent down = 249,369 to 221,883;
Sunday Mirror – 16.7 per cent down = 18,818 to 15,672;
The People – 7.9 per cent down = 9,570 to 8,814;
Scottish Mail on Sunday – 7.4 per cent down = 84,911 to 78,629;
Scottish Sunday Express – 14.4 per cent down = 30,737 to 26,321;
The Sunday Post – 9.4 per cent down = 158,059 to 143,164;
Independent on Sunday – two per cent down = 4,965 to 4,866;
The Observer – 10.6 per cent down = 14,480 to 12,943;
Sunday Telegraph – 9.3 per cent down = 16,022 to 14,527; and
Sunday Times – 4.8 per cent down = 45,583 to 43,383.
