THE Independent on Sunday newspaper has again seen its average sales in Scotland increase, year-on-year – this time rising from an average 5,240 during October last year to an average 5,418 last month.
Figures released on Friday by the newspapers circulation body, ABC, follow those of a month before (and noted here on allmediascotland) that found the paper’s sales in Scotland had risen from an average 5,401 during September last year to an average 5,548 two months ago.
Unfortunately, The Times was unable to register a third year-on-year increase in a row, this time experiencing a dip from an average 18,269 in October last year to an average 18,243 last month.
In summary, the daily newspapers figures concern sales in Scotland between October last year and last month and reveal the following:
Daily Mirror – 10.8 per cent drop = from 18,573 on average during October last year, to 16,567 last month;
Daily Record – 10.5 per cent drop = from 219,390 on average during October last year, to 196,249 last month;
Daily Star of Scotland – 17.5 per cent drop = 48,572 to 40,055;
The Scottish Sun – 8.9 per cent drop = 255,742 to 233,026;
Scottish Daily Express – 14.6 per cent drop = 54,006 to 46,122;
Scottish Daily Mail – 3.6 per cent drop = 93,470 to 90,021;
Daily Telegraph – eight per cent drop = 18,650 to 17,149;
Financial Times – 9.1 per cent drop = 2,508 to 2,279;
The Guardian – 11 per cent drop = 10,565 to 9,408;
i – three per cent drop = 18,589 to 18,039;
Independent – nine per cent drop = 2,885 to 2,625; and
The Times – 0.14 cent drop = 18,269 to 18,243.
Meanwhile, the Sunday titles’ sales figures in Scotland were as follows:
Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday – 20.4 per cent down = 27,442 to 21,841;
The Scottish Sun – Sunday – 10.8 per cent down = 191,906 to 171,099;
Sunday Mail – 13.5 per cent down = 253,542 to 219,267;
Sunday Mirror – 18.6 per cent down = 20,343 to 16,551;
The People – 4.2 per cent down = 9,358 to 8,964;
Scottish Mail on Sunday – 8.5 per cent down = 85,859 to 78,603;
Scottish Sunday Express – 17 per cent down = 31,809 to 26,383;
The Sunday Post – 6.7 per cent down = 160,516 to 149,809;
Independent on Sunday – 3.4 per cent up = 5,240 to 5,418;
The Observer – 11.3 per cent down = 14,584 to 12,895;
Sunday Telegraph – 9.6 per cent down = 16,750 to 15,137; and
Sunday Times – 4.4 per cent down = 45,323 to 43,350.
