ACCORDING to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, each and every one of the daily and Sunday national newspapers widely available in Scotland experienced a drop in their sales here, between April last year and last month.
In summary, the daily newspapers figures concern sales in Scotland between April last year and last month and reveal the following:
Daily Mirror – 8.8 per cent drop = from 19,793 on average during April last year, to 17,993 last month;
Daily Record – 9.8 per cent drop = from 234,313 on average during April last year, to 211,336 last month;
Daily Star of Scotland – 12.2 per cent drop = 49,030 to 43,036;
The Scottish Sun – 8.7 per cent drop = 271,953 to 248,419;
Scottish Daily Express – 8.7 per cent drop = 55,441 to 50,613;
Scottish Daily Mail – 7.2 per cent drop = 99,304 to 92,177;
Daily Telegraph – 3.3 per cent drop = 18,270 to 17,669;
Financial Times – 9.8 per cent drop = 2,608 to 2,351;
The Guardian – seven per cent drop = 11,105 to 10,323;
i – 4.2 per cent drop = 19,231 to 18,416;
Independent – 18.2 per cent drop = 3,215 to 2,630; and
The Times – 1.6 per cent drop = 18,840 to 18,542.
Meanwhile, the Sunday titles’ sales figures in Scotland were as follows:
Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday – 17.1 per cent down = 27,820 to 23,065;
The Scottish Sun – Sunday – 9.8 per cent down = 197,991 to 178,600;
Sunday Mail – 11.9 per cent down = 267,043 to 235,188;
Sunday Mirror – 22.3 per cent down = 20,692 to 16,080;
The People – 12 per cent down = 10,524 to 9,257;
Scottish Mail on Sunday – 9.3 per cent down = 90,538 to 82,029;
Scottish Sunday Express – 10.6 per cent down = 32,076 to 28,670;
The Sunday Post – 11.3 per cent drop = 170,131 to 150,936;
Independent on Sunday – 12.2 per cent down = 5,577 to 4,896;
The Observer – 9.2 per cent down = 14,959 to 13,576;
Sunday Telegraph – 1.1 per cent down = 15,802 to 15,624; and
Sunday Times – 6.5 per cent down = 48,459 to 45,315.
