ACCORDING to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, each and every one of the daily and Sunday national newspapers widely available in Scotland experienced a drop in their sales in Scotland, between March last year and last month.
In summary, the daily newspapers figures concern sales in Scotland between March last year and last month and reveal the following:
Daily Mirror – 8.9 per cent drop = from 19,800 on average during March last year, to 18,032 last month;
Daily Record – 8.7 per cent drop = from 235,384 on average during March last year, to 214,914 last month;
Daily Star of Scotland – 14.1 per cent drop = 50,898 to 43,695;
The Scottish Sun – 9.6 per cent drop = 272,854 to 246,699;
Scottish Daily Express – 8.9 per cent drop = 55,825 to 50,842;
Scottish Daily Mail – 8.5 per cent drop = 100,047 to 91,519;
Daily Telegraph – 2.8 per cent drop = 17,772 to 17,268;
Financial Times – 9.5 per cent drop = 2,686 to 2,430;
The Guardian – 6.8 per cent drop = 10,763 to 10,027;
i – 1.8 per cent drop = 19,101 to 18,751;
Independent – 16.7 per cent drop = 3,158 to 2,632; and
The Times – 2.2 per cent drop = 18,559 to 18,155.
Meanwhile, the Sunday titles’ sales figures in Scotland were as follows:
Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday – 18.7 per cent down = 28,571 to 23,215;
The Scottish Sun – Sunday – 11.9 per cent down = 199,172 to 175,423;
Sunday Mail – 10.9 per cent down = 269,301 to 239,870;
Sunday Mirror – 16.5 per cent down = 20,598 to 17,206;
The People – 14.6 per cent down = 10,596 to 9,047;
Scottish Mail on Sunday – 8.1 per cent down = 88,748 to 81,589;
Scottish Sunday Express – 10.9 per cent down = 32,074 to 28,573;
The Sunday Post – 11.4 per cent drop = 170,383 to 151,041;
Independent on Sunday – 12.1 per cent down = 5,519 to 4,853;
The Observer – 5.6 per cent down = 14,868 to 14,042;
Sunday Telegraph – 3.6 per cent down = 16,309 to 15,728; and
Sunday Times – six per cent down = 48,297 to 45,405.
