THE funeral of a former Herald journalist – described as having played “a pivotal role in the editing and design of the newspaper from 1970 to 1995″ – is taking place on Wednesday.
John Duncan died the week before last, at the age of 71.
Says an obituary in today’s paper – penned by his wife and Herald journalist, Lesley Duncan – he was part of the team, in the capacity of night editor, who helped the paper win the 1981 Newspaper Design Award, with the judges describing it as “a newspaper of real quality, very professional, well laid out, and well disciplined in its typography”.
A ‘service of thanksgiving’ is taking place at the Church of the Holy Rude, Stirling, at 2pm on Wednesday, “to which all friends and former colleagues are warmly invited”.
