THE funeral of the journalist, Anne Simpson, is set for Thursday.
Says a notice in today’s Herald – for whom she worked – there is to be a Requiem Mass held at 12.30pm on Thursday, at Saint Simon’s Parish of Partick, in Glasgow, followed by a ceremony at the Glasgow Crematorium, Tresta Road, Maryhill, at 2pm, “to which all friends are respectfully invited”.
Begins former Herald editor, Harry Reid, in the paper: “Anne Simpson (Annie to her many friends, colleagues and relatives) was an exceptional journalist whose work, always finessed, always polished and true, adorned this newspaper for almost 40 years.”
She died on Friday, after a long illness with cancer. No family flowers, but there will be retiral collection for Ann’s chosen charities: the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, the Marie Curie Hospice, Glasgow and the Glasgow Botanic Gardens.
