THE Saturday edition of the Daily Record is to increase – from tomorrow – by 5p, to 75p.
And the increase has been welcomed by the National Federation of Retail Newsagents because it is to be accompanied by a pro rata increase in their members’ margins.
In a NFRN media release, trading director, Russ Simper, is quoted, as saying: “Just recently we held a summit with Scottish newspaper publishers where we set out our members’ concerns following a spate of cover price increases where the retailers’ margin did not increase pro rata.
“We are pleased that [Daily Record publisher] Trinity Mirror, who was in attendance, has heeded our calls and are rewarding newsagents accordingly. We look forward to working with the publisher to further boost sales of the Daily Record.”
