THE Edinburgh Evening News has been nominated four times in this year’s awards competition celebrating the best of the regional Press.
In the UK-wide Society of Editors’ Regional Press Awards, the Edinburgh title is shortlisted twice in the Designer of the Year category, once in Scoop of the Year and once in Front Page of the Year.
Battling it out in the designer category is Mark Fearn and David Hamburgh, while Gina Davidson has been shortlisted in the scoop one. The Front Page ‘nod’ is for ‘Revenge of the Trams’.
The Falkirk Herald is, meanwhile, celebrating two nominations: for Michael Gillen (Weekly Photographer of the Year) and Jill Buchanan (Weekly Reporter of the Year).
The Inverness Courier is nominated in the Newspaper of the Year (below 20,000) category, while Dundee’s Evening Telegraph and Aberdeen’s Press and Journal are nominated in the ‘below 25,000′ and ‘above 25,000′ categories, respectively.
Shetland News gets nominated in the Website of the Year title, while Eric MacKinnon, of the Stornoway Gazette, is a contender as Weekly Sports Journalist of the Year.
Completing the Scots complement are The Herald’s Simon Bain (Business and Finance Journalist of the Year), Ian Rutherford, The Scotsman/Scotland on Sunday (Daily/Sunday Photographer of the Year) and the Evening Express’s Jennifer McKiernan (Specialist Writer of the Year).
