A SENIOR reporter on the evening newspaper, the Greenock Telegraph, has been appointed the paper’s acting editor.
Brian Hossack is believed to have been appointed for an initial three-month spell. It follows the stepping down, last week, of Anne Caine, to join East Renfrewshire Council as a media officer.
Meanwhile, the paper’s publishers – Romanes Media Group – have taken on a former Greenock Telegraph editor, Tom McConigley, in a consultancy role as acting managing editor at its Clyde Weekly Press division.
It’s a return to his former stomping ground for McConigley. In October two years ago, he left the position of managing editor of Clyde Weekly Press and its sister division comprising newspapers in the ‘Forth’ region, such as Dunfermline Press, to become a business consultant and manager. Last year, he set up a PR agency offering prospective clients a payment-for-results option.
McConigley will be partly performing the role held by Martin Little, who has been appointed head of business development for the Clyde and Forth divisions of the Dunfermline-based Romanes Media Group, which also operates newspaper titles in Berkshire, England, and in Northern Ireland.
