THE Herald newspaper has published an obituary today of one of its former journalists, Sharon McCord, who operated under the nom de plume, Sara Villiers.
She died on Sunday, aged just 45, after being diagnosed three years ago with cancer.
Writes Allan Brown, her start in journalism benefitted from every media outlet “clamouring for a young, opinionated female contributor”.
“Sharon had opinions in spades; and, no doubt, opinions about spades.”
But he adds that she left journalism ten years ago, “dismayed that what had once offered glee, travel and mischief was growing more restrained”.
