TWO reporters at the Scottish Daily Mail are being lauded in today’s edition of the paper – for having yesterday completed a Marathon.
Gavin Madeley and Julie-Anne Barnes clocked 5:46:14 and 5:14:15 respectively in the Baxter’s Loch Ness Marathon, which is sponsored by the paper.
Both Marathon rookies, Madeley is quoted as saying: “It was very emotional crossing the finishing line – I felt completely elated, and not just because it meant the pain would stop. I never thought I’d ever be able to run a Marathon.”
Meanwhile, Barnes is quoted, as saying: “Halfway round, I just wanted a sit-down and a cup of tea, and it felt like an eternity from 20 miles to the end. It’s been an amazing experience – but I don’t think I’ll have any huge desire to do one again.”
