THE Daily Record newspaper is today accusing its rival, The Scottish Sun, of lagging behind on a sports story.
Says the puff on the back page: “With all this talk of zombies, it’s good to see our pals at The Sun bringing back one of our exclusives back from the dead.”
It concerns Rangers FC and whether it might be stripped of some of its honours as punishment for their use of Employment Benefit Trusts.
On Saturday, The Scottish Sun ran a story – under an ‘exclusive’ banner’ and the headline, ‘Proof’ – about it. It began: “SUNSPORT has seen documentary evidence that Hampden bosses asked Rangers to accept the loss of five league titles and four Scottish Cups.”
But the Record is claiming it ran the same tale ten weeks ago: “Unfortunately [for The Sun], our army of readers saw the dossier on July 18.”
