ONE of the driving forces behind the creation of Media Scotland – the Scottish operation of newspaper publishers, Trinity Mirror – has decided to move on.
Bill Steven is leaving Trinity Mirror after 30 years’ service, his latest role as business development manager.
And he is being credited with helping integrate the publishers’ Scottish local newspapers division – Scottish and Universal Newspapers, which he is most associated with – with the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, to create Media Scotland.
Says a memo issued by Trinity Mirror’s Mark Hollinshead, managing director of Trinity Mirror’s national newspapers division: “Bill has been instrumental in helping us to form our new company and to help make the transition as smooth as possible for readers, customers and staff alike. I appreciate everything he has done to make this happen.”
It is being said he is leaving, at the end of the month, “to pursue many varied interests outside the company”.
