SHE soon enough gets to her central point – accusing Labour bosses of ‘seeing no evil and hearing no evil’ – but not before praising the courage of a journalist colleague. In today’s Daily Record, columnist, Joan McAlpine reflects on a new book about a drug’s war in Glasgow.
Begins the SNP MSP: “Journalism doesn’t get a great press, these days. The Leveson Inquiry has highlighted how some are obsessed with celebrity scandals.
“But real journalism is still practised by brave journalists. I use that word deliberately, because it takes courage to expose the dangerous, violent and depraved. Particularly if they have friends in high places.
“Russell Findlay of the Record’s sister paper, the Sunday Mail, displays that courage in his book, ‘Caught in the Crossfire’.”
