THE Scotsman has pledged that no newsagent will lose out, financially, after some of its Saturday edition were delivered with its weekday price on the front cover.
Some newsagents – in the west of Scotland – were required to sell the paper at £1, as opposed to normal Saturday price of £1.30 – following a production error, spotted and sorted part-way through the production process.
It is understood the bill will be under £10,000.
Said Andrew Richardson, managing director of the Scottish division of the paper’s publishers, Johnston Press: “I apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers and would like to reassure them that they will be reimbursed in full for this error through their [distributor] Menzies account.”
