The latest in an occasional series of guest appearances by well-known faces is taking place in this week's issue of The Beano comic, published by Dundee-based newspapers and magazine outfit, DC Thomson.
Joining recent guest appearances by, among others, US President, Barack Obama, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this week's edition of the comic is featuring Edinburgh Zoo's two giant pandas.
Tian Tian and Yang Guang are joining Beano characters Dennis the Menace and Gnasher.
In a DC Thomson media release, Mike Stirling, editor-in-chief of The Beano and BeanoMax, is quoted as saying: “Dennis and Gnasher’s wild behaviour brought complete panda-monium to Edinburgh Zoo when they gate-crashed to invite Tian Tian and Yang Guang to become our first ever panda cover stars. Our giant panda pals were happy to pose for The Beano’s artists, and actually turned out to be giant pranksters, sharing a few wild menacing tricks of their own.”
Children visiting the zoo over the next few weeks will have the opportunity to receive a free copy of this special edition of the comic, which is out on Wednesday.
