Two people 'linked to the trial' of former MSP, Tommy Sheridan – who served a year in prison after being found guilty of perjuring himself during a defamation action against the now closed News of the World newspaper – are reportedly suspected of having had their computers hacked into.
The claim – billed 'exclusive' in today's Daily Record – is that three people are suspected of having been a victim of computer hacking by the News of the World, which was closed last year amid allegations of phone hacking.
And that two of them are said to have been 'linked' to Sheridan's trial, which took place in 2010, following a successful defamation case by Sheridan against the News of the World following stories it published about his private life.
Writes Keith McLeod: “Metropolitan Police officers have travelled to the Aberdeen area where it’s understood three possible victims have been identified. At least two of them were linked to former socialist MSP Tommy Sheridan’s defamation trial.”
It's not stated in what way exactly the two may have been linked to the trial.
But McLeod adds: “Operation Tuleta [by the Met Police] is investigating the use of so-called 'Trojan' emails which allow a hacker to take over a target’s computer.”
