THE Scots journalist, Melanie Reid, has been named Columnist of the Year (Broadsheet) at the British Press Awards.
The Times’ journalist, named Journalist of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards last year, suffered serious spinal injuries two years ago following a horseriding accident. Still in rehab, she works from home, “typing stubbornly with one finger”.
The awards – held last night – were dominated by the Daily Mail, which took the Newspaper of the Year title.
Scots journalist, Gordon Smart, editor of The Sun’s Bizarre column, missed out on Showbiz Writer of the Year prize.
