The First Minister, Alex Salmond, is being urged to disassociate himself from newspapers boss, Rupert Murdoch.
Following a meeting between Salmond and Murdoch last week, Iain Macwhirter, writes in today's Sunday Herald: “Why do they do it? Why do political leaders, even in Scotland, worship at the tawdry court of The Sun king, Rupert Murdoch? What do they think they'll gain?”
And Macwhirter does not hold back on criticising the relationship forged by Labour and Tory leaders, past and present, with Murdoch.
The relationship has been questioned these last few days by both the Scottish Labour leader, Johann Lamont, and the leader of the Labour party, UK-wide, Ed Milliband.
Macwhirter ends: “Salmond should disown Rupert Murdoch if he doesn't want to hear Scottish voters saying: 'Ach, politicians. They're all the same.'”
