THE new The Sun on Sunday is understood to have achieved a launch sale yesterday of three million.
Reports The Scotsman today, owner, Rupert Murdoch, is said to have tweeted: “Reports early, but new Sun edition sold 3m!”
The paper quotes from yesterday’s Sun on Sunday leader, which said: “Our journalists must abide by the Press Complaints Commission’s editors code, the industry standard for ethical behaviour, and the News Corporation standards of business conduct.
“We will hold our journalists to the standards we expect of them. After all, a newspaper which holds the powerful to account must do the same with itself. You will be able to trust our journalists to abide by the values of decency as they gather news.”
allmediascotland is seeking the sales figures for The Scottish edition of yesterday’s new paper.
Meanwhile, says an analysis in The Scotsman of The Scottish Sun on Sunday by former Daily Record digital editor, Iain Hepburn: “The overall impression is of a soft launch. In many ways it feels less like a Sunday paper and more like a Saturday edition of the Sun, with more fluff around the middle.”
