A COURT reporter based at the Edinburgh-based news agency, Deadline News, is headed for The Scottish Sun, after just seven months after joining the agency.
The move by Kevin Duguid has prompted a job advert on allmediascotland.com, with Deadline saying: “Kevin quickly settled here and turned out a string of exclusives for the agency, which saw his byline become a fixture in the nationals. It was exactly that kind of profile that lured him to the agency, from the Aberdeen Evening Express.
“The Sun newsdesk team were quick to spot Duguid’s potential and wasted little time finding him a chair in their Edinburgh office, where he will replace Myra Philp.
“At Deadline News, there is great satisfaction at seeing yet another hardworking member of staff get their rightful reward on the nationals.”
Added Deadline’s managing editor, Peter Laing: “Kevin has been a terrific asset to Deadline. He took a big gamble leaving a secure job in Aberdeen and I’m delighted to see that gamble pay off for him handsomely.
“I can’t think of many reporters I’ve met in my career who had his combination of cracking news sense, determination, hard work and a nice way with people.”
