The newsroom at the Edinburgh Evening News is to undergo a reshuffle of personnel, from Monday.
A newly-created post of Head of Content is going to news editor, Alan Young, with assistant news editor, Simon Lyle, taking over from Young.
The Head of Content post will see Young in charge of news, features and online coverage. The paper's editor, Tom Little, is increasing the size of the news desk to produce earlier copy to speed up production flow.
Simon Kukuruzovic remains as deputy news editor, supported by assistant news editors, Gareth Edwards (who has been acting up in the job for a while) and Catherine Salmond (who has been providing maternity cover as features editor, having previously been a news reporter).
Health reporter, Adam Morris, is being made 'roving senior reporter', with general news reporter, Sue Gyford, succeeding him.
Little has also doubled up on reporting of two key areas for the newspaper – crime and council coverage. Former Young Journalist of the Year, Victoria Raimes, goes from general reporter to crime, alongside Alan McEwen, while fellow general news reporter, Rory Reynolds, will cover council alongside Michael Blackley.
