New Student Newspaper to Launch in Glasgow

A new, free city-wide student newspaper is set to launch in Glasgow next month.

The Glasgow Journal plans to be distributed to universities and colleges throughout the city to coincide with the return of students next month.

The 32-page free title – a sister paper to the Edinburgh Journal, which has operated out of the capital for the last four years – will be released fortnightly with a mix of news, features and sport aimed at the growing student community.

Students enrolled at higher and further education institutions across the city are currently being encouraged to apply for a host of editorial positions set to be filled in the next few weeks.

Managing editor, Alan Robertson, said: “This is a unique opportunity for students across Glasgow to see their work showcased to thousands of readers at a time when making a name for yourself in the media is more difficult than ever before.

“Independent of universities and student unions operating throughout the city, the Glasgow Journal will be run by students for students with a view to combining coverage of the key issues currently facing the education sector with first-class features and entertainment.”

Students interested in learning more about the title can follow the paper on Twitter @GlasgowJournal or email glasgow.recruitment@journal-online.co.uk for more details of how to apply.
