The Beano comic – published by Dundee-based DC Thomson – has today printed a special edition designed to boost the number of younger visitors to National Trust attractions.
The one-off edition – known as the ‘Gnashional Trust special’ – will, it is hoped, encourage more children to seek out some of the country’s best buildings and landscapes.
And today’s title, which runs to 36 pages, sees Beano favourites make the trip to, among other places, Powis Castle in mid-Wales and the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland.
John-Paul Murphy, head of brand marketing for DC Thomson, is quoted on The Guardian website as saying: “We couldn’t think of a better way to prove what fun kids can have at Gnashional Trust properties than by letting the world’s most famous menace and his friends from Beanotown loose on them.”
