THE Scotsman cover price is to increase from Monday, by 5p to 85p.
The move applies to the Monday-to-Friday editions of the paper, with the Saturday edition going up to £1.20, as of tomorrow, and sister title, Scotland on Sunday, going up in price to £1.70, from Sunday.
The moves have been welcomed by the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, who say, in a statement, that their percentage margins are to remain unchanged.
The statement quotes NFRN Scottish president, Edinburgh-based Abdul Qadar, saying: “It’s great to see the New Year getting off to such a positive start with newspaper publishers really showing their support to independent newsagents.
“We have been lobbying for price increases on [Scotsman publishers] Johnston Press titles for some time so we are delighted that the publisher has listened to our concerns.”
Meanwhile, the Saturday edition of the Daily Record is to increase in price – as of tomorrow – by 5p to 70p.
Also, the Scottish Daily Express is going up in price, from Monday, by 5p to 35p. Sister title, the Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday is also going up by 5p, to 95p, from this weekend.
