After 139 years as a broadsheet, a Fife weekly newspaper has been relaunched today as a tabloid.
The Fife Free Press, part of the Johnston Press group, marked its arrival as a tabloid with a bumper, 76-page first edition. Every section of the paper has been re-designed and colour-coded, the typography changed and a new colour palette introduced.
The title now includes an eight-page magazine section, called Weekend, dedicated to the entertainment scene in the region, while the opinion and comment section, local news and sport have also been given a makeover.
Allan Crow, the paper’s editor, is quoted in a statement, saying: “We have been overhwelmed by the response and messages of support. The first tabloid FFP looks fantastic – it's been a fantastic challenge creating a brand new version of a long-standing and respected title. It was a genuine thrill to see it hit the press.”
