The circulation gap between the two biggest-selling dailly newspapers in Scotland has shrunk for the first time in four months.
Say the October ABCs, the gap – as measured by Average Net Circulation – between sales in Scotland of the Sun and the Daily Record was 41,422. In September, it was 45,336; and in August, it was 43,528. In July, it was 42,622; and in June, it was 41,360.
In October, The Scottish Sun’s average daily sale in Scotland was 333,812 (compared with 339,586 in September), as opposed to the Record’s 292,390 (compared to 294,250 in September).
Meanwhile, the average sale in Scotland for the country’s biggest-selling newspaper, the Sunday Mail, was 354,396. In September it was 356,313; in August it was 363,711; and in July, it was 354,519.
Average Net Circulation figures include free give-aways. The figures were released at midday.
In the sales pecking order, The Sunday Telegraph swaps place with The Observer.
The September-October risers were the Scottish Mail on Sunday, the Scottish Daily Mirror, the Independent on Sunday and the Financial Times.
