TWO prominent Scottish journalists are in line to become MSPs following the election to the Scottish Parliament in May.
George Kerevan and Joan McAlpine could become MSPs under the SNP banner after the party revealed at the beginning of the week its regional list for the Holyrood election.
Kerevan is fifth on the Lothians list, while McAlpine is fourth on the South of Scotland list.
Earlier this year, Kerevan – who pens a column for The Scotsman – unsuccessfully fought the General Election, in Edinburgh East.
McAlpine also writes a column for The Scotsman, after being part of the widespread cull of editorial staff at the Sunday Times Scotland, where she was editor of the Ecosse section.
