Inverness newspaper, The Highland News, has been mentioned in despatches on the blog of what it describes as a 'sex-for-sale call girl'.
It follows the paper's investigations of houses in the city rented out and used as brothels, often unbeknown to the owners.
But on this occasion, the paper was reporting that 'Sensuous Amanda' had written on her blog: “I Read The News Today… Oh Boy! Maybe I should put a tagline on my site, ‘As seen in the Highland News’.
“OK, the Highland News has a history of negativity toward escorts. Today they have gone quite a way towards redressing the balance.
“When I was informed that today’s headline read: ‘Sex For Sale Tour Dates’, I have to say I was prepared for the worst.
“However, it is a positive piece which highlights the fact that not all escorts are coerced or exploited. Well done.”
And she added: “So it’s official. I’m high class. It must be true, it says so in the Highland News.”
And the paper reports another escort blogger, writing: “First things first, hurrah for the Highland News!! They ran the story last week and reported accurately and fairly, I think all of us who were mentioned were very impressed and pleased with the article.”
Continued the paper: “In the article, we described how Inverness is attracting a new 'independent breed' of international escorts who have expensive internet websites outlining their services and “tour dates”, and travel from the bright lights to work in the Highland capital.
“It is in contrast to the series of seedy brothels in the city which the HN has exposed in the past three years, which police fear are linked to crime gangs.”
