The circulation gap between the two biggest-selling daily newspapers has widened, slightly.
Say the July ABCs, the gap – as measured by Average Net Circulation – between sales in Scotland of the Sun and the Daily Record was 42,622. In June, it was 41,360; in May, it was 39,183; and in April, it was 40,547.
In July, The Scottish Sun’s average daily sale in Scotland was 336,023 (compared to 335,782 in June), as opposed to the Record’s 293,401 (compared to 294,422 in June).
Meanwhile, the average sale in Scotland for the country’s biggest-selling newspaper, the Sunday Mail, was 354,519. In June, it was 354,758; in May, it was 358,108; and in April, it was 369,624.
Over half a dozen newspapers enjoyed month-on-month increases: the Scottish News of the World, the Scottish Daily Mail, the Scottish Mail on Sunday, the Scottish Daily Express, the Scottish Sunday Express. the Daily Star of Scotland – Sunday, the People and the Independent on Sunday.
Average Net Circulation figures include free give-aways. The figures were released on Friday.
