Record to give away Prince album

THE latest album by one of the world’s best-known musicians, Prince, is to be given away by the Daily Record newspaper.

The Prince promotion – being repeated by the Record’s sister title, the Daily Mirror – looks set to coincide with a possible cut in the price of rival tabloid, the Daily Star of Scotland.

Across the two Trinity Mirror titles, more than 2.5 million copies of the album, 20TEN album, will be issued a week on Saturday.

And, as reported earlier this month on allmediascotland.com, it has been widely speculated owner of Express newspapers, Dermot Desmond, is planning to reduce the Daily Star in price to 10p from Thursday.

The album giveaway follows a similar successful promotion by the Mail on Sunday, which distributed a previous album by the artist almost three years ago.

Says Richard Wallace, editor of the Daily Mirror: “We’re proud that Prince has chosen the Daily Mirror and Daily Record as the best way to get his new album to his legions of fans in the UK.

“As well as the release of the album itself, we have a packed programme of Prince-related activity to keep his fans happy – including his first UK newspaper interview for over a decade – all exclusively with the Mirror and Record.”
