GREENOCK evening newspaper, the Greenock Telegraph, has announced two redundancies as part of a staff reorganisation at the paper.
A sub-editor has accepted a deal to leave voluntarily, negotiated with the help of the National Union of Journalists, and which is understood to include both a lump sum payment and a promise of future work.
There will also be a compulsory redundancy, picked from the pool of journalists with page production responsibilities.
But the reorganisation will see the paper take on a page designer and offer a junior reporter, Clare Amber Young, a permanent post after initially providing maternity cover for colleague, Susan Lochrie, who will soon return to work.
