HOW Edinburgh might develop over the next few years is to be the subject of a brainstorming conference being organised by the national newspaper headquartered in the city: The Scotsman.
Billed as a ‘state-of-the-city summit’, ‘Edinburgh: The Next Five Years’ is being organised by The Scotsman Publications Ltd, in partnership with Essential Edinburgh – ‘Edinburgh’s Central Business Improvement District’. The keynote speaker is to be John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, in the Scottish Government.
Specifically, the arm of The Scotsman organising the event is the new, The Scotsman Conferences. Says Henry Faure Walker, general manager of The Scotsman Publications Ltd: “We are very excited by this new venture. Our team has put together an excellent first conference and we are hopeful this could be the basis for an annual state-of-the-city event.
“The quality of both speakers and delegates is very high. As we had hoped, the conference is attracting top-quality people from the private and public sectors. The only way forward for Edinburgh is for the two sectors to collaborate much more effectively and build innovative working partnerships. We hope the conference can go some way to achieving this.”
The event is being held at The Hub in Castlehill, Edinburgh on the 22nd of this month.
