A RELAUNCH is taking place next week of the weekly, free newspaper for Edinburgh produced by The Scotsman’s publishers. The new Edinburgh Herald & Post will focus on the city’s shopping and services sector with a mix of consumer news and features and will also create platforms for community events with local listings and a picture gallery.
It is to be edited by Helen Martin, who has – among other things – been a features editor at sister title, the Edinburgh Evening News, and been communications manager at Scotsman Publications, which is now owned by Johnston Press. She has long penned a column in the Evening News – on a Monday – and will be continuing to do that, alongside her new role.
Said Martin: “Shopping – be it for food, fashion, or other goods and services – is both an essential and a leisure activity now. And everyone’s looking for value for money. It’s all about being useful to readers. And there is so much going on in local communities around the city that there’s a need for that to be documented in good, old-fashioned, local weekly newspaper coverage. The paper has been redesigned with a fresh new look to match the new content.”
Said Edinburgh Evening News editor, Tom Little – who has overseen the revamp: “This is an exciting new type of newspaper, designed to give Edinburgh’s discerning readers – and shoppers – something different. Under Helen’s influence, it is shaping up to be a fantastic addition to our stable of newspapers.”
The new look Herald & Post will be delivered free to households across the capital from next Thursday.
