JOURNALISTS at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers are to receive a minimum pay increase of two per cent, following the successful conclusion of negotiations between publishers, Trinity Mirror, and the National Union of Journalists.
Today, the NUJ chapel at the newspapers agreed to accept the terms struck between the union and Trinity Mirror, which includes around 40 people receiving pay awards of more than two per cent, because of previous pay anomalies.
The NUJ’s Scottish Organiser, Paul Holleran, said he was delighted with the negotiations and the decision, especially in light of pay freezes imposed at other newspaper publishers.
He told allmediascotland: “This sets out our stall to other companies. We’re looking to those companies to recognise the hard work that journalists are doing.”
