THE Sunday Herald newspaper has reversed dramatic falls in its average sales, compared to 12 months previously, by registering a sales hike between last month and October last year.
As recently as May, the paper’s year-on-year sales were down 18.3 per cent on 12 months previously. But, according to the ABCs, its year-on-year sales – as measured by Average Net Circulation – between last month and October last year was up 0.38 per cent, or 164 copies.
The latest set of national newspaper figures, published on Friday, also revealed sales increases in Scotland for the Daily Star of Scotland and the Scottish News of the World – as was the case a month ago.
They figures read, across the board, as follows:
Scottish Daily Mirror (26,670 in October 2009 versus 29,610 in October 2008, down 2,940 or 9.9 per cent), Daily Record (311,304 versus 341,625, down 30,321 or 8.8 per cent), Daily Star of Scotland (86,065 versus 83,359, up 2,706 or 3.2 per cent), Scottish Sun (354,910 versus 365,534, down 10,624 or 2.9 per cent), and Scottish Daily Express (68,661 versus 73,722, down 5,061 or 6.8 per cent).
Scottish Daily Mail (115,883 versus 116,532, down 649 or 0.55 per cent), Daily Telegraph (23,376 versus 24,258, down 882 or 3.6 per cent), Financial Times (4,529 versus 5,726, down 1,197 or 20.9 per cent), The Herald (56,137 versus 61,524, down 5,387 or 8.7 per cent), The Guardian (15,109 versus 16,394, down 1,285 or 7.8 per cent), and The Independent (7,424 versus 8305, down 881 or 10.6 per cent).
