ONE of Scotland’s best-known columnists pens his last article for The Scotsman tomorrow, as part of ongoing editorial changes at the title.
While other high-profile names to have recently left the paper, such as George Kerevan and Jim Gilchrist, retain a link by writing a column in a freelance capacity, it is understood Rab McNeil has decided to make a clean break and his diary tomorrow is expected to be his last piece for The Scotsman, at least in the foreseeable future.
Kerevan, a former associate editor, is to contest the Edinburgh East constituency in next year’s General Election, on behalf of the SNP; senior writer, Jim Gilchrist, last weekend bid farewell to the paper, in a full-time capacity, after 34 years there.
McNeil also pens a sketch from the Scottish Parliament. He has a column in the Scottish politics fortnightly magazine, Holyrood.
