A FREE, afternoon edition of the Daily Record – available in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and previously in Aberdeen and Dundee – has ceased publication.
Handed out in main shopping thoroughfares and near rail stations, Record PM made its last appearance on Friday, at least for the moment.
Its publication has been suspended, pending a review later this year.
After once being handed out in Scotland’s four main cities, at the end of last year it was no longer available in either Aberdeen or Dundee.
Designed partly to increase the exposure of advertising, an average 12,847 copies were being given away each weekday last month.
It’s understood there will be no jobs lost as a result of the closure. It became a freesheet two-and-a-half years ago, after initially retailing for 15p, following a launch during the summer of 2006.
Said a spokesperson for the Daily Record & Sunday Mail Ltd, said: “Due to the continued economic conditions we have decided to suspend publication of the free Record PM edition.”
