The former journalist and Presiding Officer of the Scottish Patliament, George Reid, has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Reid is a former Daily Express reporter and also a former head of news and current affairs at STV (between 1968 and 1974).
He was Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer between 2003-2007, having previously been a MSP and – between 1974 and 1979 – an MP. He has also worked for the BBC and Granada Television, the former including the Agenda current affairs programme broadcast on BBC Scotland during the 1980s.
