THE MP who has most publicly pursued News International and the phone-hacking allegations which led to the closure of its newspaper, the News of the World, in July, is to appear at the Glasgow book festival, Aye Write!
In a supplement accompanying today’s edition of The Herald newspaper, Tom Watson is showcased on page three. He appears in part one of a two-part debate about the media, on March 9 and sponsored by The Herald.
The second part, being chaired by the Sunday Herald’s Alan Taylor, is titled ‘The Future of the Media’ and includes The Guardian’s, Malcom Dean; Charlie Beckett, a founding director of a journalism and society think tank at the London School of Economics; and Lucy Adams, chief reporter at The Herald.
The festival runs from March 9 to 17 and also featuring are football writer, Patrick Barclay; Paul Mason, economics editor on the BBC’s Newsnight programme; The Scotsman’s Stephen McGinty; the Sunday Herald’s Trevor Royle; BBC Scotland’s head of policy and corporate affairs, Ian Small; freelance sports writer, contracted to The Herald and Sunday Herald, Richard Wilson; and Edinburgh writer, journalist and broadcaster, David Torrance.
